Raymond T. MacDonald, 85 beloved husband of Dorothy MacDonald entered peacefully
into eternal rest on January 30, 2026 at Gardner Heights in Shelton CT. Born in
Bridgeport on August 9, 1940 to the late Franklin and Anna(Dineen) MacDonald,
Raymond spent most of his youth between Port Chester, Barnum, NY and Greenwich,
CT. Raymond proudly enlisted in the United States Army, and even though his military
career was short he loved sharing stories and lessons he learned from his time in the
military.
Raymond met and married his wife Dorothy in 1970, and they relocated to Ansonia
where they resided for over 50 years and raised their only son Kevin. Raymond was
proudly employed with the United States Postal Service for over 40 years. Raymond
never met a stranger, his friendly and outgoing personality made everyone he met feel
instantly at ease. During his retirement you could find Raymond collecting stones,
planting flowers or enjoying his painting. Raymond also enjoyed playing and listening to
music, especially his flute. He really loved sharing his passions with his two
grandchildren Savannah and Emmanuel.
In addition to his wife of 55 years Dorothy MacDonald, he leaves to cherish his memory
his son Kevin MacDonald (Tylice), his grandchildren Emmanuel and Savannah
MacDonald of Ansonia. His brother James MacDonald of Naugatuck, Brother-in-law
Peter Boots of Cos Cob. Sister’s- in-law, Rosemary Westhaver of Seymour, Maureen
Bodyac (Michael) of Naugatuck, Patricia Gabriel of Derby, and Ruthann Gallagher of
Ansonia, and a host of nieces and nephews. Raymond was predeceased by his parents
Franklin and Anna MacDonald and his sister Barbra Boots.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on
Wednesday February 11,2026 at the Church of the Assumption for a Christian Mass at
11am. Interment will be held at a later date.
